On Security Culture

I wandered through the trees, through the alleys and dumpsters, constantly looking for a crowd. A few fellow minded children of the new globe tracked on, and we smelled the sweetness of community. The beating of drums, the singing and the laughter of friends.  A camp we were seeking, a camp to call our own, that would embrace us mutually.  
As we neared, the markings on the trees…the systematically placed twigs and leaves…it seems the camp was visited once before…

Oh, security culture, my beloved enemy. How you run through the fields, hands held high in delight! A Child in your glory!


You run on the backs of the sovereign, punting heads into the sand. ”It’s for safety”, you persuade, gently rubbing back-sores. You whisper threats in mocked voices, filling the tyrant with fear. The shaking giant accordingly, lashes out against those easily blamed: the worker, the poor, the victims of oppression.                                             For don’t you know, the victim is the first to revolt!
 And now, you clever beast, you’ve poisoned the well! The masses now run after you, constantly chasing, letting fear keep them separated, disheveled. 
A solid camp, air filtered through compassion and passionate ideals.   An action! For the 99%!                                       “What was that?”
Your clumsy feet clamber messily through the tents and the leaves — no sounds made, no attention caught.
                        “Police? Agents? Drunks!?!”
                            Like a gust of wind you sink your sinews into the frozen minds of the discontented.
    “They’re everywhere.”                                                             ”Maybe he’s plotting against you.”                              “They’re always listening.”
Doves now hyenas, self-interested…self-aware. Towards exclusion.
                                      ”Security is godliness”                                                                                                                        
A newcomer comes forth and the hyenas growl: “shhh! It’s a secret!” The camp turns itself inwards, mouth and bowels, and mouth and bowels, until all nourishment is fecal matter on a plate.
